Todd Layt has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of NSW. He is a Certified Practicing Marketer.

He has written for the Landscape Contractor and the Landscape Manager Magazines for 5 years.

Todd has also written articles for Green World magazine, and the Garden Gurus magazine.

He has been a writer for Golf and Sports Turf magazine for 2 years.

Todd Layt founded Abulk Turf and Abulk wholesale nursery and sold them in 2005 and 2007 respectively. In the mid 1990’s he started breeding plant and turf varieties. Firstly breeding native grasses; like Poa eskdale, and various Pennisetum varieties. Then many new and revolutionary Lomandra and Dianella plants. Some of the most popular Ozbreed brand of plants developed were Tanika, Little Rev, and Katrinus Deluxe. These have become very popular in the Landscape in Australia, New Zealand and the USA. More recently he has developed a series of Native Shrubs and Groundcovers as well as representing other breeders and their plants.

Todd Layt was the breeder of the Popular Buffalo brand called Sapphire. This fine leaf Buffalo was recently rated as the best in shade in comparison trials conducted by the Department of Primary Industry in Queensland. Todd has also bred the first and only instant turf Australian native grass called Nara. He has also bred Kikuyu and Couch grasses, marketed under the brand names Kenda, Cyno-Max, and Cyno-Sport.
