Plant and garden writer and photographer
With over 4000 magazine and book pages to my credit and more than 1000 pictures published, I am Australia’s most widely published garden writer. In my 25-year career in the gardening media, my work has appeared in Better Homes & Gardens, Gardens & Outdoor Living, Burkes Backyard, the Australian Women’s Weekly Garden Guides, the RHS journal The Garden as well as in books published by Readers Digest, Murdoch Books, Random House and others. Apart from magazines and books, I have worked on the TV show Better Homes & Gardens, appeared in gardening segments sponsored by Gardens & Outdoor Living magazine and been a guest on numerous radio shows. Currently, I am Editor of Your Garden magazine where I am responsible for devising stories, briefing writers, editing text, finding suitable pictures, briefing photographers, overseeing photo shoots and managing the business of the magazine within a budget.
On a casual basis, I offer a range of horticultural services including writing, editing and checking of text, plant-picture identification and, from my 3000-image picture library, the supply of images of plants, gardens and gardening techniques.
I like to practice what I preach by maintaining a densely planted garden at my home on Sydney’s northern beaches and have been an enthusiastic home gardener for 30 years. I am intensely interested in garden design and plants and have a wide practical knowledge of the growing needs of plants typically raised in Australian gardens.
